Wa, the Itacan of the Pte Oyate, had been banished to the edge of the world by Skan for agreeing to help Iktomi (the trikster) make the Tunkasilas look foolish so that he could grab power for himself. Wa had remained alone until Anp gave him a message from Skan to search for his grandchildren and help them in their undertaking. Skan also declared henceforth that Wa would be known as Wazi, a wizard.
