Later, during the journey the brothers came upon a grove of trees laden with fruit. Nearby was a beast shaped like a man who urged them to eat. The fruit was very good, and the beast said there was even better fruit a short distance away off the trail. Everyone except Yanpa refused to leave the trail. He followed the beast into the forest where ther was a tree full of grapes. It was delicious, and Yanpa ate so much he got tired and fell into a deep sleep. When he woke up, he was very sick. Then, Iktomi appeared before him and said, "Yanpa, you will always be remembered as the one who neglected his duty to satisfy his desires."
